July 19th Market Update

For a third week in a row, prices of dimension lumber rose. Activity picked up at the mill level, enough to for mills to raise prices again and extend order files into August. Business is still strong despite the disappointing Starts and Permit numbers from June. The hottest items are 2x4 104’s and wide Southern Pine dimension lumber. OSB mills continued to sell at higher numbers in most regions. Everyone has agreed that the downside is out of the market for now and prices are headed higher.
